Week four’s rewrite is still in our board appendix. I stopped listing twenty “strategic” lines that were really one operations problem with adjectives.
Flagship programme
Operational Risk Governance for Australian Operators
A twelve-session cohort for people who already keep a register and suspect it is written for the file. Informational fee AU$2,180 per seat. No checkout on this site.
Who it is for
Operations leads, company secretaries, and small-team risk owners in Australia. You should be able to bring a redacted register or board extract. If you cannot, we issue a Tasmanian logistics case in week one.
Learning outcomes
- Rewrite appetite statements so they name a decision, not a mood.
- Produce residual-risk paragraphs that a non-specialist director can repeat.
- Assign control owners to named people and a leave backup.
- Run a short calendar test against weather, contractors, and public holidays.
- Draft a declined-treatment page without treating it as failure.
Modules
Intake artefacts. What “performing for audit” looks like on a page.
Appetite as numbers: downtime, dollars, harm language the board will actually own.
Inherent versus residual without inflating the inherent column to look heroic.
Residual rewrite clinic. One risk, many drafts, one sentence that survives.
Control ownership versus job titles. Rosters, contractors, dual hats.
Vendor maps: concentration, parent overlap, geography that slides hide.
Calendar testing. Leave, harvest, storm season, and the Tuesday that is never quiet.
Sampling a control. What “we tested it” must include to be honest.
Declined treatments. Writing the residual you will live with this year.
Board pack compression. Eight-minute read, including what did not move.
Mini tabletop. First hour only. Comms before kits.
Close-out critique of your two artefacts. No foil certificate.
Instructor
Rowan Hale
Rowan has facilitated risk rooms for operators in Tasmania, Victoria, and South Australia. Earlier work included incident reviews for regional processors. Rowan does not hold out as a lawyer or actuary. Teaching voice is dry on purpose.
Pricing (informational)
AU$2,180 per seat. Employer groups are quoted after we see the roster. GST treatment is confirmed on the invoice. Payment is arranged off-site after written confirmation. See fees and refunds.
FAQ
Do I need a GRC platform?
No. Spreadsheets and well-named files are enough. We will not migrate you onto software.
Is there a real limitation I should know?
Yes. Twelve sessions will not invent a second supplier, hire a night shift, or satisfy a regulator by themselves. If your residual depends on capital you do not have, the programme will make that clearer — it will not fund the gap. Homework is heavier than a brochure hour; protect a morning each week or you will fall behind.
Are sessions recorded?
Not by default. If a cohort agrees in writing, a recording is deleted within 90 days as described in the privacy notice.
Can I join from outside Australia?
English delivery and Australian calendar examples are the default. Time zones are Tasmania-based. We will say if the fit is poor.

Rowan’s pacing in week eleven felt abrupt. The first-hour tabletop was still the most revealing hour we had all year. I wanted more time on climate wording and did not get it.
Client in logistics: session six’s parent-company map was uncomfortable and accurate. We had listed two hauliers as independent. They were not.
